Immunological analysis of concanavalin A and canavalin in sword bean teas

Seeds of sword bean (Canavalia gladiata), a leguminous plant, is rich in proteins and cannot be eaten raw because the seed contains toxins, such as concanavalin A (ConA) canatoxin. Therefore, seeds are soaked, boiled, rinsed, pounded before using them protein ingredient. Also, have been utilized natural medicine. Recently, it was reported that consuming tea alleviates allergic rhinitis symptoms. Because ConA known mitogen T-cell lymphocytes, may involved alleviation. we examined detection extracts teas. We prepared from embryos collected after removing coats immersed water. analyzed extract during production process polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Immunoblotting with antibodies against or canavalin, major storage protein, conducted to detect extract. Our result indicated extractable amount decreased heating processing phase. As described above, commercially available teas were also electrophoresis immunoblotting. The results lower detected but not canavalin.
